OUR HISTORY:
Westchester EMS (WEMS) was started in 2000 as part of the Stellaris Health Network. The hospital network was comprised of four members: Lawrence Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital, Phelps Memorial Hospital, and White Plains Hospital. The hospitals continue to serve on the WEMS Board of Directors. WEMS began providing non-emergency transport services to the member hospitals, and emergency paramedic fly-car services to the towns of Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and Somers.
Since then, WEMS has expanded to providing non-emergency and emergency ambulance services to many more facilities in Westchester County. We also provide mutual aid emergency ambulance response to a number of Westchester communities. Our paramedic fly-car service has also expanded to include the Town of Mount Pleasant.
WEMS continues to operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency.
