Medical Transport

Westchester EMS provides both emergenct and non-emergent transport services for many hospitals and medical care facilities throughout Westchester County and regularly transports patients to destinations all over the tri-state area. Our dedicated team of Paramedics, EMTs, and Dispatchers work closely with facilities, patients, and families to ensure timely and exceptional service. Our fleet of modern and professionally maintained ambulances and equipment ensure our patients recieve care reliable and comfortable care.

Our medical transport units can service any medical facility, or private residence, in Westchester. All medical transports must start or end within Westchester County.

Basic Life support (BLS)

Our BLS unis are each staffed by two NYS-certified Emergency Medical Technicians who provide routine assessments and necessary care throughout transport. EMTs can administer oxygen and accommodate a variety of specialty care requirments.

Advanced Life support (aLS)

For patients needing advanced medical care during transport, our ALS units are fully equipped with a suite of modern medical equipment and are staffed by NYS-certified Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians. Our Paramedics are highly-trained medical providers who work closely with hospital staff to ensure that necessary advanced care can be continued throughout transport. Our ALS units can can accommodate:

  • Cardiac monitoring (EKG)

  • IV fluid/medication administration

  • Sedated and/or ventilator dependant patients

  • Advanced or complex trauma

  • Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) transfers

  • Intra aortic balloon pump transfers

  • Impella pump transfers

  • Continued administration of blood products

Westchester EMS can accommodate medical transports of almost any distance. We have transported patients to a variety of destinations throughout the east coast.

911 Emergency Responses

When not assigned to scheduled medical transports, all of our units are made available to the local 911 system. WEMS units primarily provide assistance to our nieghboring agencies in northeastern Westchester, but can respond to large incidents or increased call volumes elsewhere in the county upon request.

FLY CAR SERVICES

Northern Westchester
Medics

For 25 years, Westchester EMS has provided paramedic fly-car services to northeastern Westchester. The 45 Medics cover a 200 square mile area with a population of about 100,000 people. This includes the Towns of Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and Somers. Four paramedic fly-cars in this area respond to a variety of medical emergencies alongside volunteers and staff from ten local ambulance agencies.

In 2024, the 45 Medics responded to over 7000 calls for service.  

Town of mount pleasant
medics

Westchester EMS has provided paramedic fly-car services to the Town of Mount Pleasant since 2016. This 35 square mile area has a population of over 44,000 and includes all of the Town of Mount Pleasant, including the Villages of Pleasantville and Sleepy Hollow, part of the Village of Briarcliff Manor, and North White Plains in the Town of North Castle. The two paramedic fly-cars are dispatched by the Mount Pleasant Police Department and respond alongside volunteers and staff from five local ambulance agencies.

In 2024, the 37 Medics responded to nearly 4000 calls for service.  

EMT Staffing

Armonk Fire
department

Since 2014, WEMS has provided Armonk FD with one EMT for 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday, to supplement their volunteer crews.

SOMERS Fire
District

Starting in 2010 with one full crew (two EMTs) 24/7, WEMS has since worked with the SFD to expand staffing to include two full crews on weekdays and a dedicated supervisor.
